After giving Sherlock Holmes a contemporary make-over, BBC One will bring back the legendary literary detective in the Christmas special of “Sherlock” this year. the abominable bride
The special holiday episode titled “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride,” which is scheduled for airing on Jan. 1, will feature Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his trusted friend Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman) as they solve a case during the Victorian era.
Series screenwriter Steven Moffat revealed that taking Sherlock back to his original era based on the novels of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was very challenging.
“What we were doing all the time was saying Sherlock Holmes does work, even though he’s got an iPhone. Basically the question was, how can Sherlock Holmes work in the world where he has an iPhone?” the series scriptwriter told The Sydney Morning Herald.
Moffat added: “Back into its original setting reveals all the things that we changed … you suddenly think, hang on, the women in the Sherlock Holmes stories basically don’t talk. Mrs. Hudson doesn’t speak. We’ve got a bunch of characters who according to Doyle tradition shouldn’t speak at all, which is not what we’ve done.”
Cumberbatch and Freeman also shared their opinions on the Christmas special in an interview with Telegraph.
According to Cumberbatch, the best thing about going back to his character’s Victorian roots is that he can finally cut his hair short to fit the fashion sense of the gentlemen during the era. “I thought, at last I can have a f—— haircut. We could get rid of that ridiculous bouncy lot of curls on my head,” the lead actor stated.
Meanwhile, Freeman said: “I guess the difference is that Victorian Watson’s got more patience.”
BBC One will air the 90-minute “Sherlock” Christmas special on Jan. 1.

Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015 - Superb Finale

The sun is setting on Downton Abbey. Season six has come to an end and just one feature-length episode stands between us and a Crawley-free world. There will be tears (obviously) but we have been promised resolution rather than terrible twists and shock deaths. Abbey Christmas Special 2015
"Some matters will be left open, because no-one reaches complete resolution until the lend of their lives," executive producer Gareth Neame has said of the final episode, adding: "Romantic stories require resolution. But the fact is that our camera will gradually drift away from the Abbey and whichever inhabitants remain and we'll leave them to continue their lives..."
Intriguing, no? Well, here's what we think will happen when the Crawleys return to our telly screens for their final foray.. Abbey Christmas Special 2015

Lady Mary will be serenely happy

Remember when Lady Mary wasn't a bitchy, acid-tongued ice queen? No, us neither. But her marriage to Henry Talbot has changed her. She's set on helping Edith find happiness - she has some serious making up to do where her younger sister is concerned, after all - and generally not making other people's lives a misery. She'll smile and stop snapping at Branson. In fact, she'll barely roll her eyes during the feature-length special. Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015

Anna and Bates will hear the pitter patter of tiny feet

But not before some serious baby drama. These two have had their fair share of upset, from miscarriages to murder charges. But it's high time someone (*cough* Fellowes) cut them some slack. The arrival of baby Bates will be far from smooth, because a baby never has been welcomed into the Downtoniverse with ease, but Anna and Bates will absolutely end the episode with the fledging family they crave.

Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015 - Season 6 Episode 9 The Finale

Lord Grantham sees his family heritage, especially the grand country home Downton Abbey, as his mission in life. The death of his heir aboard the Titanic means distant cousin Matthew Crawley, a

There’s still the traditional Christmas episode to come before the UK sees the conclusion of ITV’s flagship drama Downton Abbey, but Sunday night did see the last episode of the regular 6th (and final) season. Airing at 9PM locally, episode 8 scored 8.8M viewers and a 39 share. There was also a 9.5M viewership peak, per ITV. This is the best score for the Crawley family since November 2013, despite an overall overnight viewing decline in the UK in the past few years. The end of last year’s regular season drew 8.29M viewers and a 35.8 share in the overnights at the time. Season 4 in 2013 concluded with 9.8M and a 40.2.

As we began to wind down on the game-changing period drama, an overnight gathering of 7.6M viewers watched the UK debut back in September. That was the softest start to Julian Fellowes’ creation since it began in 2010. But, Downton remained the most-watched show in its time slot across all channels during the season. The first six episodes ultimately averaged a consolidated 10.12M viewers. The penultimate installment of the regular season last week drew 7.54M in the overnights with a 33.5 share. Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015

Season 6 has been generally well-received with twists and turns aplenty. Last night’s finale has Twitter abuzz and the UK broadsheets doing retrospectives and breathless recaps in anticipation of the final finale Christmas episode later next month. No spoilers from me, save to say that Fellowes has wrapped up some storylines in the regular run but leaves a few key strings dangling for the holiday.

We can’t wait… for Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015
Lily James is confirmed to return to the role of Lady Rose Aldridge, while Patricia Hodge is set to join the cast as Bertie Pelham’s mother.A synopsis for the episode teases at the plot of the final episode: “Mary endeavours to build bridges with her sister while Edith’s secret continues to pose a threat, despite having nothing left to lose. As Henry settles into the role of husband and stepfather, finding his place at Downton proves more difficult. Below stairs, Carson faces some personal challenges, which prove that even he is not invulnerable to change.”
It has also been confirmed that the episode will also take place on New Year’s Eve in 1925.

Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015 – Few Things About Show

The Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015 will air December 25, at 8:45 p.m. GMT on ITV.

They met briefly during series 6, but we’re pretty certain we spotted a lingering moment between Tom Branson and Lady Edith’s editor, Laura Edmunds. The synopsis for the Christmas special promised romance abounding throughout the episode, so it wouldn’t be out of the realms of possibility. Abbey Christmas Special 2015
Much as we hate to admit it, Branson was little more than a set dressing throughout series 6, serving only to push Mary into Henry Talbot’s arms. Though we may see the teased beginnings of a connection between the two, it’s unlikely we’ll see another rushed wedding. Then again, this is Downton Abbey Abbey Christmas Special 2015

Now revealed as the agony aunt for Edith’s magazine in one of the more stranger storylines, it’s just a shame this will never be properly explored.
But wait until Denker hears about this one! I wish more could have been done with these two.Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015

Daisy has passed her exams, Molesley is now a teacher, Mrs Patmore has her guest house and Carson and Mrs Hughes are planning on opening up the same.
But as we keep getting reminded all the great houses are closing down what’s to become of everyone below stairs?
The one question we all want an answer to.
The only really truly unhappy member of the family poor Edith has been jilted at the alter, lost the love of her life in mysterious circumstances, been the butt of her sister’s jokes and had to keep her own daughter’s existence a secret.
Now surely it is time for the put upon middle sister to make a glorious match with Lord Hexham – he just has to come around to the idea that his love already has a child and one she kept from him. Come on Bertie, you can do it!
Please Mr Fellowes do give us a happy ending to our favourite show this Christmas, that would be the best present of all.

Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015 - Going To Happen

Downton Abbey Christmas Special 2015 And it’ll totally have something to do with cars. The future of the aristocracy is at risk. With the privilege of hindsight we know most of Britain’s grand houses were eventually bequeathed to the National Trust. But the Crawleys have a plan, and it doesn’t involve anything as “revolting” as opening their home to the unwashed masses. Abbey Christmas Special 2015

With Branson setting up a repair shop on the edge of the estate and Henry moving to the Abbey, Downton will soon be a hot spot for anything that involves an engine. And if Mary has anything to do with it, a hot spot for things like air bags, MOTs and safety tests too. Abbey Christmas Special 2015

Rumour has it the period drama decamped to Alnwick Castle during filming, and as we haven’t spied Bertie’s new home yet, we can only assume the Crawleys will be visiting during the final ever episode. Will the Dowager Countess head there to persuade Bertie and his formidable mother (who we reckon will be played by Patricia Hodge) to take Edith back? Or perhaps they’ll all embark on yet another boring shooting holiday. Yay.
Times are a-changing, there’s no denying it. Having an under butler is already considered extravagant, and it’s only a matter of time before butlers themselves are a bit old hat. It’s time for Carson to consider a life that doesn’t involve the Abbey and his Lordship. We think this life could very easily involve him following in Patmore’s footsteps and running a B&B. Where he does all the cooking.

Daisy’s an independent, accomplished and educated woman who has passed, like, loads of exams. She’s full of potential and absolutely doesn’t need a chap… but she’s been awfully unlucky-in-love. The closest she’s come to romance is begrudgingly marrying poor dying William. It’s time she found Mr Right, and we reckon he just happens to be right under her nose.

Mrs Patmore’s sin-infested B&B is no longer dubbed a house of ill-repute. The den of infidelity was washed clean when the awfully morally upright Crawleys dropped by for scones and jam. Easy peasy. In fact, the scandal has done her some good. All publicity is good publicity, after all. She’s a rather successful business woman now and has a nice set up to retire into when the time is right.
